A Cost-Effective Solution: Traditionally, businesses had to bear the expense of proper pesticide disposal. However, the PDP eliminates this financial burden, encouraging Kauai businesses to participate in this invaluable service. Logistics and Registration: The collection event is scheduled for January 27, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Kauai. To participate, advance registration is mandatory, with the deadline set for January 4 at 4:30 p.m. Interested parties can register on the HDOA’s website. The exact location will be disclosed only to registered participants, ensuring a streamlined and secure process.
Statewide Impact: While the focus is on Kauai, it’s noteworthy that the PDP is a statewide project. Previous collections on Oahu and ongoing activities on Maui demonstrate the program’s success. In September, over 30 companies on Oahu responsibly disposed of approximately 7,700 pounds of pesticides, illustrating the widespread positive impact of the initiative.
