According to preliminary data, in 2022 the area under potatoes and ground vegetables in Russia increased by 2.5%.
The weather conditions are more favorable for these crops than last year, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Ulyanovsk region assures.
According to the forecast, in general, potato production will be at least 6.8 million tons, and open ground vegetables – 5.2 million tons.
This will completely cover domestic needs, including processing enterprises.
In the Ulyanovsk region, open ground vegetables in the public sector were sown on an area of 1,537 hectares, or 102% of the plan. Potatoes are planted on an area of 1,450 ha, or 102% of the plan. The area under potatoes is higher than last year by 50%, and under vegetables – by 9%.
