Orlov: Agrarians of the Amur region exceeded the plan for sowing potatoes and vegetables

Agricultural producers in 11 districts of the Amur Region, thanks to regional and federal support measures, have fulfilled and exceeded the plan for sowing vegetables and potatoes, Governor Vasily Orlov said.
The results of the sowing campaign were summed up in the regional government.
“As a result of systematic work with farmers, we see that this year 50 enterprises have increased the area under potatoes, and 17 farmers have increased the area under vegetable crops. In 11 municipalities, agricultural producers have met and even exceeded the plan for sowing vegetables and potatoes. Thanks to regional and federal support measures in some municipalities of the region, the sowing of vegetables increased from 107 to 713%, for potatoes from 103 to 557%. This will not only provide residents with Amur vegetables, but will also affect their price, ”the regional authorities quoted Orlov as saying.

The governor noted that support measures are working, so it is proposed to expand them at the federal level.
“The proposals were announced at a meeting of the Council under the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District, Yuri Petrovich Trutnev. Colleagues from other subjects support us in this. Work in this direction is strategically important – this is food security,” Orlov added.

At the meeting, Oleg Turkov, Minister of Agriculture of the region, noted that, despite the difficult weather conditions, spring sowing in the Amur region amounted to 1,058 thousand hectares, which is 66 thousand hectares higher than last year.
“Grain and leguminous crops are located on an area of 178,000 hectares, which is 17,000 hectares lower than in 2021. Undersowing of grain crops is associated with a large amount of precipitation in the spring. In several areas, precipitation was twice the norm, because of this, the best agrotechnical terms,” Turkov said.
Part of the unsown grain fields was set aside for sowing in 2023, or sown with soybeans. Soybeans are located on an area of 857 thousand hectares, which is 8 thousand hectares higher than the plan and 88 thousand hectares more than in 2021. Potatoes are located on an area of 1.9 thousand hectares, open ground vegetables – on 0.45 thousand. Forage crops are located on an area of 41.1 thousand hectares, which is lower than in 2021 by 12.1 thousand.

Two regional enterprises decided to start cultivating new crops for the region. OOO “Kazanskoye” sowed oilseed flax on 706 hectares. LLC “AgroPriamurye” began to cultivate beans, this year – on an area of 4,000 hectares.
In 2022, on behalf of the governor, the regional Ministry of Agriculture did a lot of work with farmers involved in the cultivation of potatoes and vegetables. Since December 2021, the ministry has been monitoring enterprises on a weekly basis, analyzing the situation regarding the provision of seeds, logistics, financial capabilities of enterprises, and meetings have been held.
