Valley Irrigation, a business segment of Valmont Industries, Inc. (NYSE: VMI), has hired Trevor Mecham as vice president, global technology strategy – irrigation, and Joe Strickland as vice president and general manager, North America irrigation.

“We are excited to welcome these two agribusiness experts to Valley,” said Len Adams, group president of global irrigation. “Both Trevor and Joe bring years of experience developing strategy and leading diverse teams. They will each work to advance our strategy of addressable market growth, helping Valley take advantage of new opportunities to serve our growers with the most tech-forward irrigation solutions available anywhere.”

Trevor Mecham joined Valley on Nov. 26, and will develop and lead Valley technology strategy, in conjunction with the Irrigation senior leadership team. Most recently, Mecham served as vice president of business development for Hortau. Prior to that, he held various roles within the agriculture industry, at companies such as CNHi; Leica Geosystems, Inc.; John Deere/Gem Equipment, Inc.; and Integrinautics/Novariant.

Mecham has a bachelor’s degree in business marketing. He also worked on his 4,000-acre family farm for eight years.

“I’m thrilled to be part of the global Valley brand,” Mecham said. “From my earliest days on our family farm to traveling coast to coast and talking to growers, they want their irrigation systems to work as hard as they do. Valley will continue to innovate and offer customized, tech-forward solutions that give growers the strongest return on their investment, both in the field and through the ‘Internet of Things.’”

Joe Strickland

Joe Strickland joined Valley on Dec. 3, and will be responsible for developing the vision and strategy for North America Irrigation and Tubing sales and growth. Prior to joining Valley, Joe spent the last 10 years in a variety of roles at Ecolab, most recently as vice president – agribusiness. Strickland has earned his MBA from the University of Michigan, with an emphasis in finance and corporate strategy, and his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University.

“I’m excited to collaborate and find areas where we can further optimize the superior value that Valley provides growers and shareholders,” Strickland said. “From product refinements and innovation, to conservation and improved quality of life, Valley will continue to break new ground in durable engineering, advanced technology, reliable service and commitment to customer focus.”
