In a groundbreaking move to bolster local agriculture, the Government of Tver Region, under the leadership of Governor Igor Rudenya, has taken a significant step towards enhancing support for farmers engaged in potato and open-field vegetable cultivation. Recognizing the potential of these sectors, particularly in regions like the Upper Volga area, recent decisions made during a session of the regional government are poised to transform the landscape for small-scale and large-scale agricultural enterprises alike.

Boosting Agricultural Enterprises: The strategic importance of potato and vegetable farming has gained momentum, highlighted not only by local authorities but also in broader agricultural discussions. A recent meeting held on August 15, led by Vyacheslav Volodin, the Speaker of the State Duma, delved into agricultural development within non-chernozem regions. This gathering underscored the significance of diversifying and strengthening the agro-industrial complex in such areas.

The measures adopted during the regional government’s session encompass a wide spectrum of beneficiaries, extending support from large enterprises to small entrepreneurs and individual households involved in subsistence farming. Notably, 62 small-scale businesses are eligible for partial reimbursement of agrotechnological expenses. Subsidies for potato cultivation stand at 3360 rubles per hectare, while vegetable producers receive 4100 rubles per hectare. These subsidies encompass costs associated with seed acquisition, mineral fertilizers, plant protection agents, fuel, lubricants, and agricultural machinery components.

Empowering Elite Seed Cultivators: The incentive for innovation doesn’t stop there. The government’s initiatives extend to elite seed cultivators, acknowledging their critical role in advancing agricultural practices. Nineteen farmers specializing in elite seed cultivation can anticipate partial reimbursement for expenditures related to mineral fertilizers, plant protection agents, fuel, lubricants, and machinery components. Subsidies amounting to 2500 rubles per ton of elite or original potato and vegetable seeds sown, including hybrids, are set to stimulate progress in this realm.

Wide-Reaching Support: The ramifications of this agricultural revolution touch a multitude of enterprises within the region. A total of 63 businesses and five individual households are slated to receive subsidies for various expenses, including seed procurement, mineral fertilizers, plant protection agents, and equipment. This comprehensive approach underscores the commitment of the regional administration to fortify the agricultural foundation of the Tver Region.

The Tver Region’s renewed commitment to bolstering potato and open-field vegetable farming through an intricate system of subsidies is poised to usher in a new era of agricultural innovation and sustainability. By empowering both large and small enterprises, as well as individual farmers, the region sets an inspiring example for fostering growth, driving innovation, and ensuring food security within the agricultural landscape.
