The supply of fruits and vegetables from Central Asia to Krasnoyarsk increased 9 times over the year

Service dogs are the first to check them at customs

The supply of fruits and vegetables from Central Asia to Krasnoyarsk increased nine times over the year. Most of the products come to us from Uzbekistan. These are nectarines, tomatoes and cherries. And most importantly, imported fruits and vegetables go through several stages of customs control. Starting from a banal inspection in the back of a truck, ending with a laboratory examination. But the first fruits are examined by dogs. Viktor Borodin with details.

This girl will not let you spend a forbidden trip to Russia. A young German shepherd finds drugs when examining a truck with grapes in a couple of minutes. And even now there is a dummy in the bundle, but she has already found banned substances in real conditions. Dogs are trained for this from ten months. And if necessary, they can even find a bundle of dollars.

Tatiana Putintseva, Chief Inspector of the Canine Department of the Krasnoyarsk Customs:

  • Her name is Igera Abih Von Strasse. She is two and a half years old. Be sure to set up the dog, it should be included in the work.

External inspection of the truck is the first stage. Then the customs officers proceed, as they say, to the sweet. In this case, the grapes. The interest is strictly professional. According to the documents, only fresh bunches from Uzbekistan are in the back. If there is something else, for example, apples, the car must be stopped at customs.

Marat Dudarov, Head of the Krasnoyarsk Customs post:

  • We identify what kind of product it is, how much, name, weight. It is possible to declare it. We had a similar situation once this year, in the month of May.

If there is nothing prohibited and the documents are in order, specialists begin a detailed inspection of the products themselves. Here they take a box of grapes out of the car. The customs officer evaluates several handfuls by eye so that there are no obvious external defects. Then all this is sealed in a safe bag and sent to the laboratory.

Natalia Chalova, Deputy Head of the Plant Quarantine Department of the Rosselkhoznadzor of the Krai:

  • As a rule, infected products are apples, tomatoes, plums, apricots and peaches. This year, 79 cases of infection with quarantine objects were detected.

Here everything is studied already under a microscope. For example, there may be seeds of other plants and small weeds on the grapes. In this case, specialists carry out the so-called phytosanitary disinfection. Simply put, the whole batch is treated from pests. But it happens that specialists find, for example, moths and caterpillars during examination.

Oksana Gok, Deputy Director of the Rosselkhoznadzor Reference Center :

  • This is a quarantine facility on the territory of the Russian Federation, this cannot be allowed. 14 cargoes received identification. This suggests that it is very important and very timely.

Vegetables and fruits that do not pass sanitary inspection are crushed at the landfill with a bulldozer. More than two hundred tons were destroyed this year. As for the inspection procedure itself, it can be completed in just an hour. Everything is nearby at the customs point. Even the laboratory was moved from Bogdan Khmelnitsky Street to Yastynskaya Street last year.
