According to the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, the annual consumption of mineral fertilizers is estimated to reach 286.7 thousand tons. This figure underscores the pivotal role these nutrients play in optimizing crop yields and ensuring food security.
Breaking down the consumption structure, nitrogenous fertilizers are poised to account for 163.5 thousand tons, while phosphorus and potassium fertilizers will stand at 105.9 thousand tons and 17.3 thousand tons, respectively. This distribution highlights the diverse nutritional needs of crops and the strategic allocation of resources to meet these requirements effectively.
Looking specifically at the spring sowing season of 2024, the demand for seeds of cereal crops is projected to be 67.2 thousand tons, out of which 56 thousand tons are already procured. To bridge the gap, the ministry plans to supplement the shortfall with domestically sourced seeds, leveraging a system of subsidies to ensure equitable distribution across farming communities.
