The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) in Vietnam has reported that the country’s vegetable and fruit exports have exceeded 2 billion USD since the beginning of the year. By the end of April, the export value had already reached approximately 520 million USD, contributing to a total of 1.8 billion USD for the first four months.
This year has witnessed a remarkable growth rate of over 32% in vegetable and fruit exports compared to the previous year. The industry continues to show strong momentum and positive market shifts, supported by increased processing capacity. Expectations are high for the sector to set a new record in export volumes.
Vietnam has achieved a significant milestone with its fruit and vegetable exports surpassing 1 billion USD within the initial months of the year. This achievement highlights the industry’s potential to elevate export performance to unprecedented levels.
The market now sees exports of 14 key agricultural products from Vietnam, including durian, bird’s nest, sweet potato, dragon fruit, lychee, rambutan, mango, jackfruit, watermelon, banana, black jelly, mangosteen, longan, and passion fruit.
To sustain and enhance competitiveness in the global market, Vietnamese businesses must prioritize quality improvement efforts. As international standards for agricultural imports, especially from countries like China, become more stringent, maintaining high product quality is crucial for market success.
Experts emphasize the need to focus on establishing and managing cultivation areas effectively to ensure sustainable production of export-grade materials. Adherence to technical requirements specified by importing countries will be key in penetrating major markets and achieving the targeted export value range of 6-6.5 billion USD for the year.
Mr. Le Thanh Hoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Processing and Market Development of Agricultural Products at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, highlights the importance of Vietnamese businesses and cooperatives in issuing warnings, disseminating information, and implementing protocols to uphold quality standards. This proactive approach is essential to consistently meet market demands and establish a distinctive reputation for Vietnamese agricultural products on the global stage.
