Watermelons from Kabardino-Balkaria are famous for their taste

In Kabardino-Balkaria, watermelons are mainly grown from gourds. Traditionally, the cultivation of this melon culture is carried out by farmers of the steppe regions – Tersky, Maisky and Prokhladnensky.
Tersky District is the leader in this segment. Here, watermelons have been sown this year on an area of about 80 hectares, which is more than last year by more than 25 hectares.
Thanks to the transition to intensive methods of growing gourds, including the introduction of drip irrigation, as well as high-quality high-yielding seeds, it is possible to increase yields.
This year, the melon growers of the Tersky district harvest on average over 40 tons of berries per hectare. For comparison: last year the yield was 35-38 tons per hectare.
The sun, warmth, competent watering – and as a result, the farmers of the republic receive incredibly sweet and fragrant watermelons.
In local markets, buyers are increasingly asking for watermelons grown on the territory of Kabardino-Balkaria, because the path of this agricultural product from the field to the counter is minimal, which means that watermelons retain their taste and useful properties to the maximum. Also gourds are shipped to the regions of Russia.
Harvesting watermelons in Kabardino-Balkaria is still ongoing.
