Öko-Feldtage 2027: A Milestone for Organic Farming in Northern Germany

The Öko-Feldtage (Organic Field Days) have long been recognized as Germany’s premier showcase for organic farming. Scheduled for 2027 at Bauckhof in Amelinghausen, this landmark event marks the first time it will be hosted in Northern Germany, offering a unique opportunity to highlight the region’s contributions to sustainable agriculture.

Why the Öko-Feldtage Matter

Since its inception, the Öko-Feldtage have served as a vital platform for showcasing the latest in organic farming practices, technologies, and research. The 2023 edition attracted over 10,000 visitors, underlining its importance to both organic and conventional farming communities.

Key Features of the Event Include:

  • Practical Demonstrations: Visitors can see machinery, techniques, and crop varieties in action.
  • Research-Driven Insights: Collaboration with universities and research institutes ensures the latest scientific findings are presented.
  • Networking Opportunities: Farmers, agronomists, and industry stakeholders come together to exchange ideas and solutions.

The Significance of Lower Saxony Hosting the Event

Lower Saxony is one of Germany’s leading agricultural regions, making it an ideal location for the Öko-Feldtage. The choice of Bauckhof—a pioneer in biodynamic farming—reflects the state’s commitment to promoting ecological practices.
According to Lower Saxony’s Agriculture Minister, Miriam Staudte, the event is a chance for the region to showcase its organic farming sector while inspiring broader adoption of sustainable practices. The event will address topics like:

  • Transitioning to organic farming.
  • Environmentally friendly crop and livestock systems.
  • Innovations in machinery and farming methods.

Opportunities for Attendees

The Öko-Feldtage aim to attract not just organic farmers but anyone interested in environmentally sustainable farming. Farmers attending the event can:

  1. Explore Innovations: From cutting-edge machinery to new organic crop varieties, attendees will discover practical solutions for their operations.
  2. Gain Insights for Transitioning: Conventional farmers considering the shift to organic methods can access resources and network with experts.
  3. Broaden Their Perspective: Sessions on soil health, biodiversity, and climate-resilient farming will address the challenges of modern agriculture.

Looking Ahead

Before the 2027 event, the 2025 Öko-Feldtage will be held at the Bio-Bauernhof Wassergut Canitz in Saxony on June 18–19, continuing to build momentum. The theme and schedule for the 2027 edition will be finalized in the coming months, but the focus will undoubtedly remain on fostering innovation and sustainability in agriculture.

The Öko-Feldtage 2027 represent a significant opportunity for Northern Germany to lead the conversation on sustainable farming. By bringing together practitioners, researchers, and policymakers, the event will not only highlight advancements in organic farming but also inspire the next generation of agricultural solutions. Farmers, whether conventional or organic, stand to gain actionable insights for their farms, making this event a must-attend.
